The European Science Foundation (ESF), Bielefeld University and its Center for Interdisciplinary Research (ZiF) in cooperation with the Collaborative Research Centre “From Heterogeneities to Inequalities” (CRC 882), GICC-EXCLIM, and COST Action IS1101 on Migration and Climate Change are seeking proposals for their joint conference on: Tracing Social Inequalities in Environmentally-Induced Migration.
Social inequalities between world regions, countries, geographical regions, organizations, groups and categories of people who are affected by environmentally-induced migration constitute the core thematic focus, because it is obvious that not all actors are equally vulnerable to climate and environmental change as a trigger for migration. Differential susceptibilities and capabilities to cope with environmental change on local, national and global scales depend rather on material and immaterial resources inequalities, power inequalities and status inequalities. The conference 2012 is meant to shed light on the role of those social inequalities in environmentally-induced migration and the mechanisms of its reproduction.
The Conference takes place from 9-13 of December 2012 in Bielefeld (Germany). Please find the elaborated Call for Papers with further information here.
DEADLINE FOR SUBMITTING PROPOSALS: July 01, 2012.
As slots for short talks are limited considering to apply additionally or alternatively for the poster session is strongly recommended.
